Před čtrnácti lety našli osmnáctiletou Emilii Volfovou ležet na břehu místního rybníka – nahou, téměř bez známek života. Stala se jednou zobětí sériového vraha mladých dívek, který v Holicích vté době řádil, jako jediná však zázrakem přežila. Přestože pachatel nebyl nikdy dopaden, město se zděsivé tragédie časem vzpamatovalo. Zapomnělo. Jenže teď zmizela další dívka. A Emilie, která se po traumatizující zkušenosti přidala k policii, věří, že nejde o náhodu. Za vším stojí stejný člověk. Jakási nevysvětlitelná síla ji navíc pořád táhne zpátky do opuštěného kempu – k místu, kde tenkrát byla za záhadných okolností nalezena i ona sama. Stejně jako dávné zločiny pomalu ožívají také Emiliiny vzpomínky na podivné události, které její záchranu provázely, a ačkoli příliš nevěří povídačkám místních, že zdejší vody jsou prokleté, nebere je zcela na lehkou váhu. Vhloubi duše totiž moc dobře ví, že ani její přežití neměla na svědomí pouhá šťastná souhra okolností, ale něco mnohem, mnohem většího.
